Tamarind Indian Restaurant, Mayfair

Having walked past this restaurant many many times, looking through the window it always seemed a little subdued, but how wrong was I. The restaurant is located in the basement but don't be fooled this is not a dark and dingy basement, more of a bright and vibrant luxurious space. With a great atmosphere this restaurant is beautiful.

We booked through Opentable a special offer deal of 3 courses and a glass of bellini for only £39 !

The Menu was as follows:
Starters

Chickpeas, wheat crisps, yoghurt, blueberries and tamarind chtuney

Tiger Prawns with ginger, yoghurt, spices and toasted nigella seeds

Supreme of chicken with ginger garlic, cream-cheese and coriander-stem
All the starters were sublime, without doubt the best Indian starters that we have every had

Mains

Chicken tikka with red onions, tomato, spices and coriander

Diced lamb braised with browned onions, ginger, tomatoes and Kashmiri chillies

Aubergine with onion, tomato, masal flavoured with nigella seeds

Braised rice with cumin and saffron

Naan bread
Not usually a fan of Naan breads however these ones were extra thin, almost like a chapati and were delicious

Dessert

Warm ginger rice pudding with hazelnut ice cream

On their own they worked but together the cold ice cream and warm rice pudding were a strange combo.

Masala Tea/ coffee

Petit fours - Their famous white chocolate covered fresh mint leaves are outstanding and worth a trip there solely for them !!

We would give it a good 9/10 for Indian restaurants, for ambiance and culinary delights and fantastic value for money
